LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University has announced that Will Wallace will be promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Communications, while Josh Rexroat has been hired as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. Wallace’s promotion is effective July 1, while Rexroat begins his appointment on July 5.
Serving as the Assistant Director since the 2018-19 academic year, Wallace has spent his previous four years at W&L as the primary media contact for the men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming, baseball, women’s tennis and equestrian teams. He has been responsible for recording statistics, producing news releases, creating a variety of printed materials, managing social media content and the management of gameday workers for W&L athletic events.
“I am very excited to accept the promotion to Associate Director of Athletic Communications,” said Wallace. “I am thankful for the support I have received from coaches and administrators not only in my first four years at W&L, but especially over the last few months as I transition into this elevated role. I also want to thank former Director of Athletic Communications Brian Laubscher and former Senior Associate Director Chip Whipple for their guidance to this point in my career.”
Rexroat joins the W&L athletic communications office after serving as the Sports Information Assistant at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. At PSU, Rexroat served as the primary media relations contact for the volleyball and softball programs. He also assisted in the day-to-day publicity and promotions efforts for each of PSU’s 12 intercollegiate sports programs.
“I am excited to join the W&L family,” said Rexroat. “Sports have always been a major part of my life and I am excited to learn new aspects of them. I am also excited to enjoy a new part of the country while learning and growing as a general.”
Rexroat came to Pittsburg State after serving as a student assistant in the media relations and communications office at Northwest Missouri State University for four years. He also served as a social media intern with the St. Joseph Mustangs baseball club in 2019, before graduating from Northwest Missouri State in December 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in sports media with a minor in sports management.
Rexroat will serve as the primary media contact for several of W&L’s athletic teams and will be responsible for recording statistics, producing news releases and maintenance of the University’s athletic webpages while assisting with the promotion of the athletic department.
